How do I remove old stickers from glass on windows and wood furniture?
Q. The stickers on the furniture are kids' stickers - like Barbie stickers or something like that. The stickers on the window are from the window manufacturer.

A. Well ... we just put in new windows and they ALL had those stupid reallys sticky stickers on them. I sprayed them with windex with amonia waited a just a few minutes sprayed it again and wiped it off with a paper towel. dont even bother trying to peel of some of the paper first . just spray it right on . it will just roll right off. make sure it is really wet when you wipe it. you may have to do it a couple of times to get all of the sticky glue off but it really worked well for me. My husband was using a razor blade to scrape it off. waste of time. I had 5 windows completely wiped clean and streak free before he had even got one done. I went and sprayed what was left of his mess and wiped it right off. As for the wood .. My daughter… [cont.]

A. WD-40 and a Razor. Works like MAGIC!!! Spray WD-40 liberally on the gooey mess and let it sit for a couple minutes...then scrape off with the razor.

How to remove the stickers that dealerships put on the back of cars?
Q. I want to remove the sticker that is on the back of my new car. The dealership that I purchased it from put their sticker on the trunk. It's one of the shiny, foil looking stickers. I, obviously, don't want to damage the paint though. The paint is silver, I don't know if that makes a difference. Suggestions?

How do you remove stickers from different surfaces?
Q. We recently bought a house and it was winterized. They put large stickers everywhere letting us know this. I'm not sure why they just didn't put one big sticker someplace or maybe a hanging piece of paper, but they didn't. And now I can't get these stickers off. They are on the kitchen sink, ceramic bathroom sick, and ceramic toilets. What can I use to get them off without damaging what it's stuck on?

A. I would try either Goof-Off or WD40. Both work great. Just be careful around painted surfaces. If your still finding them stuck use the WD40 with a 'magic' eraser. Good luck!

A. Oils dissolve the sticky residue. I would rub a little vegetable oil or olive oil over it. It should break down th residue. Then wash it with a liquid dish soap, such as Dawn to remove the oil.

A. If your using Avery labels, there is a free download from Avery for Microsoft word. It sets up a template for almost every avery label there is. (I use it, its very nice) You can find the download here: just download the avery wizard for microsoft office. To get a picture in the label of yourself, in word, (in the avery wizard there is a special icon to insert a picture) insert a picture from file.

How to remove stickers from your car windshield without damaging the sticker.?
Q. My car is a piece of junk, so my dad and I are looking into new cars. There's only one problem though, I absolutely love my one of a kind bumper stickers, and really want to be able to transfer them to my new car. I've heard a blow dryer, and razors, but both sound like they could damage the stickers in some way. I've also heard something about freezing the stickers, but I have no idea if that's true or not. Please help^^ Thanks guys!

A. Take a picture of the sticker like take a few. Get it in really good detail. Then take(or send via email/whatever) the photo's to a graphic designer(/sign shop) and have them make a sticker from the photo's. Leave the sticker on the car to compare it to the new sticker. Goodluck

What do those bumper stickers that are black with a blue minus sign mean?
Q. I keep seeing them on cars and I wonder if they are related to the yellow equal rights for gays/lesbians bumper stickers or if they are something else? I tried looking on the web and a lot of answers seem to point to being colorblind (race equality) but I have not the slightest clue. Just curious.

A. They are "Thin Blue Line" stickers which signify support for law enforcement personnel. The police are the "thin blue line" that protects society from those who can not follow the rules. There is also a red line version, which is in support of Fire / Rescue personnel.

Q. I have never had stickers before, but this year, they are everywhere. What caused them to all of the sudden appear and how do you get rid of them? Forgive me for not being more specific. A. They are called "Goat Heads" or "Puncture Vine" and they've become quite a problem across the United States over the past 10-12 years. Once the seedlings emerge, it's best to pull them before they form the heads and then place them in the trash. The seeds from "Goat heads" or "Puncture vines" are viable up to 20 years in the soil. There are several ways to prevent them from becoming a problem in your yard; 1) Pre-emergent herbicides containing oryzalin or trifluralin applied in spring (April 1) will kill seedlings as they germinate during summer. You can probably find these chemicals at one of your local hardware stores. 2) In some areas, people are using propane torch burners to burn/destroy the seedlings AND the seedheads. However,… [cont.]

How to get stickers off of cassettes?
Q. At my work, we use stickers to label cassettes. However, we reuse those cassettes, and everytime that happens, someone has to take a knife and scrape the sticker off. Is there any easier way to do it?? I know they have liquids out there that remove stickers, but: 1) We do SO many cassettes, I'm afraid it wouldn't be cost effective 2) I wouldn't want the liquid to damage the recordings on the tapes any ideas?

A. Peel the sticker off as best you can. Then use a piece of tape, packing tape, scotch, whatever you've got handy. Rub the tape onto the goo, then peel off the tape. The goo will stick to the tape.

A. look for a spray to break up the adhesive. but try some where it is not noticable on the paint, like inside the tire fenders on the paint first. or you could take a hair dryer and slowly heat up the stickers. it makes the glue easier to remove pulling it off.

A. Get yourself a roll of wide clear plastic parcel tape and make transfers with it. Just stick it over an image cut from a magazine and burnish with a spoon, then wet the back and rub off the paper backing and you have a transfer, then coat with double sided tape to make a sticker. Alternatively just print your images and put double sided sticky paper on the back, cover with waxed paper so it is removable and cut to shape, presto stickers. Double sided tape comes in up to A4 sized sheets at a papercrafts store. Good luck and have fun.

A. If they are only on the window, my suggestion would be to cover the surrounding area on the car (the paint and rubber around the window) with a tarp and tape it down. The stickers should come off with rubbing alcohol. One thing to be aware of, though...if the stickers have been on for a long period of time, the outline may be "burned" into the window glass. I had a friend in college with this same situation. He had purchased a Pontiac Grand Am which had belonged to a Mary Kay rep. He took the Mary Kay stickers off the back window in a manner similar to what I described above. On any "normal" day, you couldn't see that the stickers had ever been on the back window. However, whenever the window fogged up, the word "Mary Kay" was… [cont.]
