I sprayed some weedkiller on a precious tree. What should I do to rescure the tree?
Q. I sprayed the weedkiller on the weedmat. Under the weedmat is the tree root. I am not sure how much I sprayed on the weedmat. The tree started dropping the leaves. What can I do now to rescure the tree? Thanks.

A. Flood the area with as much water as it will absorb. You will not know if your efforts are successful for awhile. You could lose all the leaves and it may still come back. If it were mine I would add water to the point of flooding every hour for the rest of the day. You do not want to go beyond the one day or you could drown the tree.

I sprayed my tomatoes plants with soap, is that what killed them?
Q. They were doing fine, except some black bugs (like flea-size) so I sprayed them with diluted laundry soap and they first turned from green to a black-like color. Now they are wilting.

A. after spraying them with soap you should spray with clean water 20 minuets later as the soap will burn the plant

I sprayed a bleach cleaner in my bath tub and it almost instantly left rust-colored stains. How do I remove?
Q. My old (not sure of the material, but not some plastic) bathtub just had some random usage stains in it, so I pulled out bleach cleaner. When I sprayed it, it almost immediately left rust colored stains that streak downwards. Rinsing did not remove. Scrubbing does not remove. More bleach only seems to make it worse. I'm afraid there was some chemical reaction. What is the stain and how do I remove it?

A. I'd first try a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and if that doesn't work try Barkeeper's Friend - you'll find it next to the Comet Cleanser in about any store.

If my friend cleaned my bbq pit and sprayed black heat resistant paint on to the cooking grills, what now?
Q. He cleaned it, and the grills you cook on have been sprayed with black heat resistant paint, I have a gas grill so would it be safe to eat food out of if I just made it extremely hot inside, or is there a way to remove the paint, or am I just going to have to get new ones? He also sprayed the heat plate as well if that matters.

Can I ever start a garden on land sprayed with pesticides?
Q. I want to start a small organic garden on land that was sprayed with weed killer some time ago. Can I make it safe to grow food on?
Asked by brighteyeswhisper - Sun Jun 29 17:52:51 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Just keep up on adding organic matter like compost and keep your soil lively and healthy and don't worry about the chemicals used in the past. Most have probably either migrated into the water system already or broken down. Almost all the land we use to grow food has been hit with pesticides/herbicides/fun gicides in the past all you can do is to improve what you have and not apply any more. This is what transitioning to organics is all about with the growers who are commercial and wanting to get their land certified organic.

My dog got sprayed by a skunk right outside my door. How do I get rid of the smell on her and in my house?
Q. My whole house smells! The windows were open and now I can't tell if it is just in my nose or what. Do groomers take dogs who have been sprayed? I can't imagine putting tomato juice in my old clawfoot tub-it will stain it forever.

A. 2 bottles of hydrogen peroxide 1/2 cup baking soda 1 squrit liquid dish soap mix in bucket sponge on dog let sit on for 10-15 minutes rinse well This works pretty good and far far better than the tomato juice thing. My dogs get skunked a couple of times a year and this is what I use.

How do I get rid of weed - killer sprayed all over the lawn?
Q. My husband sprayed the entire lawn with weed-killer - it got on my plants and they are dying, but my main concern is that every time I go outside that's all I can smell. It is pure Poison, and I don't want to spend the rest of my summer breathing it in. How do I get rid of it? I can't believe he would do that! Can I spray something over it to neutralize it?

A. that probably was not the best idea he's ever had. but weeks surely can be frustrating. (i have poison oak and thistles.) maybe next time get a big 'black' plastic sheet and lay it down. after a couple weeks, most everything under it should be pretty unhappy. maybe it'll take longer, but it should work. weed-B-gone degrades over the course of a week or 2, which won't help you today, but at least you know there is hope.

How safe is roach spray after professionals have sprayed your home?
Q. I live in your typical apartment building. There's no air venelation whatsoever. I am worried that the checmicals they use to kill the roaches will affect the health of me and my 3 year old son. After they sprayed, I didn't go home that night. The following day I opened the windows and turned on the fans to move the air. I am still worried that the spray will be harmful. Am i being worried for nothing?

What natural product can be sprayed on floorboards before putting in a new carpet that is anti-bacterial/mould
Q. Washing the floorboards properly would need time to let them dry, so I'm just looking for something that can just be sprayed on. I'm thinking maybe aromatherapy stuff like lemon or tea tree?
Asked by okei - Tue Jan 15 18:37:33 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Tea Tree (Melaleuca) is a natural anti-bacterial. To be effective you would need to spray a light mist over the entire floor. If you're concerned about trapped moisture, use a fan or blow dryer. This won't take too long, so you can get on with the installation.

How best to remove skunk spray from a dog that got sprayed?
Q. I have a beagle who got sprayed this morning when the dog took off for a run in the woods. How best to clean the dog to get the stunk off?
Asked by Betrayed - Wed Mar 28 21:00:25 2007 - - 19 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Tomato juice works. Leave the tomato juice on the dog for as long as you can, the longer you leave it the better it works. Beagles are small and have short hair, so you'll probably only have to do it once unlike when my aunt's Golden Retriever got sprayed and I had to wash him three times (at least I got paid for it).

A. My cat is also strictly an indoor cat, like you i live near a busy main road so she never goes outside. She is nearly 3 and i have never had her spayed as felt there was no need as there was no chance of her getting pregnant. A few weeks ago her stomach got huge and she had a foul smelling discharge, i called my vets, who were closed and referred me to an out of hours emergency number who advised me to rush her in to the emergency PDSA. She was diagnosed with pyometra, whereby an unspayed cat gets a womb infection when she goes into season. She was given an emergency hysterectomy the same night and i was given a bill for 369.05. Apart from the financial side she nearly died and i wish i'd have just had her spayed in the first place.
