snail eggs?
Q. first of all, what do pond snails look like? and what do snail eggs look like? because i'm finding a lot "egg sacs" that are about a centimeter long and have about 20-30 eggs each.

A. Well pond snail I have them in my tank and they reproduce very rapidly. The eggs look like a clear bunch of bubbles glued to the side of a tank or a piece of anything in the tank. The baby snail are mostly clear shelled and very thin when the develop enough to see. Atleast this was my experience in my tanks here at home. I have a 55 gallon a 25 a 16 and 5 10 gallon tanks and they all look the same. To me they are somewhat a nuisance because of the quick reproduction they are all over and I have to keep removing them but still more pop up uncontrollably. I hope I was some help to you...

I have about seven or eight snail eggs sacks in my fish tank what should I do?
Q. I have a few sack of eggs of snails in my fish tank, the thing is that I am not sure if they come from my yellow snails or if they come from the tiny dark snails that came attach to my yellow snails. The sacks are transparent and I know they are eggs sacks do to previuos research, but now that I saw this other two tiny dark snails I dont know if they are from them or from my yellow snail. Is there any link with different kinds of snails picture where I can identify my tiny snails? What do I do when they hatch, I know they will in one more week. Thank you for your help and advise. For how much can I sell those snails? I purchase two yellow snails, and in petco they give me as a gift the other two small snails.

A. Hi R C first of all thanks for adding me your contact. You just gotta wait for the snails to hatch then you will know. When they hatch put them in a seperate tank. For feeding just feed them standard foods.

How to sell snail eggs as food?
Q. I have a few brown garden snails (Helix aspersa) which are edible. They lay many eggs and since I don't want anymore I just crush the things before they develop. I was wondering, since they are being destroyed anyway, if there was a way I could maybe package and sell them to a distributor or something. I know they have snail farms with these little guys, but I couldn't let the eggs hatch and then kill the little guys to be sold to be eaten, just don't have the heart to do that. Who buys the eggs?
Asked by und_ich_fliege - Fri Apr 3 15:30:16 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I don't think they're sold as people food, but as food for various fish and amphibians. If you have a tropical fish store in your area, ask them if they'd like to buy some from you. Kribs, loaches, puffers and lots of others like snail eggs.

Can i remove pond snail eggs from the moms back?
Q. I have a pond snail that has eggs attached to her in a sack. I am just wondering if i can remove them and put them in a cup or bowl or separate container. Can i separate them from their mom?
Asked by Animal lover - Tue Apr 27 20:07:07 2010 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Go right ahead. They're not attached to the snail, another snail just laid it there by chance, so removing the eggs won't harm either the snail nor the eggs.

How do you tell if mystery snail eggs are fertilized?
Q. I have two mystery snails and I think they mated and one laid eggs, but nothing has happened to the eggs in the past few days. They are completely white and are above the water and they are very small.
Asked by Guinea pig Addict - Wed Apr 22 18:49:22 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Yep, they would have most likely been fertilized. They take about two to three weeks to hatch, so it will take awhile. Good luck!

What do snail eggs look like?
Q. My friend has some snails they are fresh water snails we think they laid eggs can some one describe to me what snail eggs look like or send me a photo of snail eggs thank you and have a great day!
Asked by Mom of Pix and Charlie - Tue Jul 8 16:22:55 2008 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Snail eggs look like globs of semi transparent jelly (no colour). The egg cluster is small and fairly durable (won't come off a rock it you take it out of the water). Then in a while there will be little black dots (kinda like tadpoles) and slowly the jelly egg cluster will disassemble as the wee snails emerge.

Do black mystery snail eggs hatch in water?
Q. My balck mystery snail layed eggs above the water a couple weeks ago. This morning I found my eggs lying on the bottom of the tank. Are they suppose to fall in the water before hatching? Will they still hatch in the water? What should I do with them now?
Asked by robin m - Mon Jan 26 09:53:22 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Black mystery snails reathe from the surface of the water, and the eggs need the oxygen that is in the air. During the breeding period, the female will deposit her eggs in clutches over the waterline. If they have fallen in they will probably have been nocked off by somthing (a fish maybe). It is likely they have drowned, but possible that they may hatch anyway, the buble of air in the egg may last long enough for them to survive and make it to the air. Seeing as there is nothing you can do about it let nature take its cause, these snails breed like rabbits so if you have two fear not.

A. Mystery snail eggs are layed out of the water, they will breed if you lower the water level. The goldfish will not eat the eggs, but they will eat the baby snails, it is best to give them there own tank if you want to start breeding and raising them.

My snail layed eggs out of the water on the underside of the aquraium top?
Q. Is this normal? I think she didn't want the fish to eat her eggs but I always thought they had to be in water. The snail got up on the underside of the lid and layed a group of eggs on it. I don't know too much about snails but I like the way they keep my aquraium cleaned up.

A. Some species of snails will do that - it offers a measure of protection from bottom feeders such as Plecos. Don't worry about the eggs - the humidity and moisture from the tank will keep them alive. You should see the newborn snails soon! Snails eat algae, and they are great aquarium cleaners! See this site for complete snail care info: Good Luck!

Are mystery snail eggs supposed to be hard?

I was curious so i felt them expecting it to be soft because they look really shiny and almost like a brain but was suprised by the hardness. I thought maybe they could be dried up so i misted a little water on them with a spray bottle. HELP?

A. That's perfectly normal, Mystery Snail eggs are supposed to be hard. It also isn't unusual for some of the clutch to dry up, especially the outermost layer of eggs, but as long as they're kept warm and humid, you should be seeing babies in 2-3 weeks.

A. Mystery snail eggs must hatch above the water. It's probably too late to save them. However, just drop the water level in your tank a few inches and your snails will lay a new clutch. And unlike the pesky ramshorn and malaysian trumpet snails, Mystery snails are not considered pests, but can grow quite large and beautiful.

Can these Apple Snail eggs be saved?
Q. My female Apple Snail was mated last night and is already trying to lay eggs. She's hardly out of the water and her eggs are just sinking down to the bottom of the tank. Can I pull them out and stick them somewhere to save them? Or is there no chance?
Asked by Jonergin - Thu Sep 3 21:17:22 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. trust me, you DON'T want to save them. That may sound cruel, but apple snails breed like crazy. Once they hatch your tank will be overrun with snails, who will breed with each other and have more snails, and usually there isn't enough food for them to eat when there are too many in a single tank. Pet stores usually wont take an apple snail, so you could end up stuck with them. Its illegal to set them free because they breed so quickly and cause problems by being an introduced species to a habitat
