A. ok.listen.the temperature is quite simple.its only supposed to be 97-98 degrease Fahrenheit. this is including after they hatch. they must stay warm until they have feathers of their own. they cannot go for more than 4 hours without that heat.ok?ok.

what is the Best incubator and least expensive for an African Grey parrot?
Q. I have a pair of African Congo Grey. The male is doing his mating ritual. I want to have an incubator on hand just in case I need it. Any suggestions on which one is better yet not costing me an arm and a leg? Thank you everyone for your help. I am hoping not to need the incubator, but wanted to be prepared for the worst. I am hopeing mother nature will take its natural choice...but want to be prepared if she doesnt. Its always better to be over prepared than not prepared at all.

A. The best value is the GQF Hovabator. They range in price from about $50 to $175 depending on the options. Still-air units are cheaper, but the forced air units control the temperature more accurately. The automatic turners are not required but make the process much more convenient. I have the picture window unit with the electronic control and the turner. Good suppliers for this unit are : www.dblrsupply.com www.cutlersupply.com I hope you know what you're getting into, and hope that you do not need to use it. All birds (except poultry and game birds) do best when they are fed by the parent birds for the first few days. This provides a boost to their immune system and aids in establishing the proper gut bacteria balance. These… [cont.]

Q. I have an incubator and looking to purchase fertile parrot eggs. How do you go about finding these eggs without risking being scamed? Does anyone know of any good legite sites? Has anyone purchased these eggs online before? Any info will help.

A. I breed parrots. No breeded in his right mind would sell an egg... 1. You do not know if it is fertile until it has been incubate for 5 days 2. You can not remove a 5 day old egg and ship it anywhere without loseing the baby 3. Hatching a Parrot egg in an incubator is not a reliable way to hatch an egg. Even experince breeders don't always get every thing perfect. Sorry but there is not such site as a "legite site" that sell parrot eggs...

A. First of all why do you want to raise a parrot from an egg? Depending on the species, genetics and individual personality your bird may not be any more tame or bonded with you than a hand fed baby you get from a breeder or even a parent raised, hand tame baby. A lot depends on the individual bird and the environment. You need to consider baby birds get a lot of immune builders from their parents in the first few weeks of their lives and babies should not be pulled for handfeeding until they are at least 10 days old unless it's absolutely necessary. Breeders who sell parrot eggs are not looking out for the safety and well being of the chick and are only trying to make a quick buck at the expense of the baby. Unless you are experienced… [cont.]

A. Absolutely. First of all the prices are just ridiculous. A Hyacinth Macaw fertile egg for $60? No way. Hyacinth Macaws usually cost about $10,000. Also, if you notice, the wording and grammar of this notice is a little off. This usually indicates a scam from another country.

Q. I just rang the bird vet, she advised me i dont need a license to own a Macaw parrot. The other issue is the guy selling them is actualy only selling the egg, unhatched and is located in Cameroon, Flora. Very Suss, he is selling the egg for $55, and $100 for shipping the egg with a portable incubator which i have to send back to him once its hatched. He provides a hand booklet on what to do once its hatched... sound suss or sound like a bargain ? This is the link :

A. do not ever buy parrots eggs, its always a scam plus, macaws are very difficult to hand feed unless you are capable of staying home for 6 weeks and feed it around the clock, if you miss a feeding, it could die, if the formula is too cold it can get a yeast infection, too hot? it melts the crop the bird dies, plus, if you manage to get it to weaning by yourself it will be overly dependant and you will end up with a very bad situation buy a macaw from a breeder who will NOT let you take your bird home until it is weaned, who will let you visit once or twice a week after sanitising top to bottom and scrutinizes you,, you will be rewarded with a SANE stable well adjusted bird, for the next 80 YEARS

A. Most chicks are removed from the nestbox for handfeeding about 10 days old, younger if the clutch is large. I seldom allow more than three chicks in the nest, if more than 3 eggs, the oldest chick is removed on the day chick #4 is due to hatch and repeated in the rare instance of more than 4 eggs. Having fewer chicks in the nest at one time puts less strain on the parents and gives the small, newly hatched chicks a better chance at survival. Chicks removed at 10-14 days old are placed in a brooder at 93 where they remain for the next week to ten days. During this period they can initially require up to five feedings per day, depending on how much the parents have "stretched" the crop. The amount fed at each feeding can vary from chick to… [cont.]

A. I don't know where you are from but they all sound like scams to me.Unusually low prices are the tip off. Easier to get a low price out of you before they start ripping you off to save your money. Our newspapers are full of ads of people rehoming their birds. You might start there. Also avian vets can often send you to breeders. Very interesting ,tempting ads. Too bad they're scams.

Help! Quaker egg moving!?
Q. My step mom has 2 (what we thought were both males) Quaker Parrots. The female decided to lay a clutch and after asking a bird store owner she threw out most of the eggs except two and said these were the only fertile ones.
