A. The most likely cause for your apartment mailbox not working correctly is a conflict with older expansion pack buyable mailbox from Sim a Little Dream a Lot Look in your Collections folder for a file called 0x6e870b24.package and in your Downloads folder for a file called SEDD_BuyMailboxBV.package and if you find either one, delete them. They are older versions of a very popular buyable mailbox often included in downloaded lots so you may have them and not even be aware of it, but they do conflict with the new Apartment Life mailbox so they must be removed. There is a new version of the buyable mailbox already available especially for Apartment Life at for those times you accidentally delete your mailbox or download a lot with the… [cont.]

How can I backup my mailbox on from a hosted Exchange server?
Q. I'm thinking about switching hosted Exchange providers, perhaps even running my own Exchange server as I have in the past. The big challenge is to store my calendar, contacts, etc in such a way that they are easily transferrable to another Exchange server mailbox. Backing up other items such as categories would be nice, but not essential, as I believe those are stored locally in Outlook 2007 ( my client ). Thanks in advance!

A. First in Outlook, choose File, Inport/export then next Choose Personal Folder file then next Choose the top item in your mailbox, Include Subfolders, checked, next Choose a path for the file, leave the Options and finish When it's done, you have a complete backup of your mailbox. When you're in your new Account with the new provider, Do just the oposite. File, inport from another program or file, next Scroll down to Personal Folders file then next Choose your file in the path and choose next Choose the mailbox; import in the same folder and finish! That should do it!

A. You will need to delete the associate service books to that particular email. Follow these steps: Options Advanced Settings Service Books >> in there you will see two service books for the yahoo email. highlight each and then click the MENU button (The dotted button to the left of the trackball) and DELETE each one of them. That should take the icon off for the yahoo one. If it doesn't ... do a quick battery reset ... Dont' switch off your phone and just take the battery out for 20-30 seconds and then put the battery back on. This would reset your network settings. If this doesn't work then delete each and every service book from your phone. The only one you would not be able to is the one that says Provisioning. Once done log… [cont.]

Do I need approval from the post office before replacing my mailbox and post?
Q. I remember when I moved my mailbox closeer to my house, the mail man refused to deliver my mail until I moved it back. Now I need to replace my mailbox and post because they are rotted. I'm not sure if they will make a big deal again if I replace these 2 items but leaving them at the same location.
Asked by gary c - Thu Mar 13 13:53:55 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. As long as you're leaving the mail box in the same location, go ahead, it's not an issue. If your mailbox will be in the process of being replace during mail delivery -- you may want to notify the post office so they can hold your mail that day. If you live in an area with strict neighborhood or city ordinances, you may want to check to see if there are guidelines set for the types of mailboxes that are allowable.

How do I get my mailbox fixed?
Q. The mailbox in my apartment building does not belong to the landlord but belongs to USPS. The entire door of the mailbox is broken and it needs to be fixed. Do I just go to the post office and ask for someone to come and repair it?
Asked by Marcin - Tue Dec 29 18:29:17 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You will need to go to the post office and request they fix your mail box. If I remember correctly you will need to complete a form for them so it can get fixed. Just go to the post office and tell them your problem and they can tell you what they can or cannot do.

A. We had trouble with swallows trying to nest in nooks and crannies on the porch. A friend suggested jamming a pop can there. By golly, it worked. For some reason, the shiny pop can kept them out. Worth a shot? The other thing you could do is stuff a live cat in the box. Just kidding!

How should I plant a clematis to get it to climb a mailbox post?
Q. After doing some research I decided that I'd like to plant a clematis at the base of my mailbox and hopefully God willing, it will climb the post and create a beautifully decorated mailbox post. Is there any suggestions as to how to plant it? Also, is it best to use seeds or starter plants?
Asked by Lisa F - Mon Apr 16 14:39:56 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Try to find a plant with buds low on the stem and two stems if possible. Plant after frost and as long as soil is not waterlogged. The soil must be fertile, well-drained, and humus rich. In heavy or adobe soil dig a big hole, preferably 24"x 24". In lighter or sandy soil, a hole 18"x18" will do the trick. Save only the best of your topsoil. Amend the soil as conditions dictate. Clematis root are very fragile so cut the container off gently. Gently remove the clematis rootball from the container and plant it in the hole so that the base of the plant's stems are sunk 3" to 5" below soil level. Leave the original stake on the clematis for the first year to act as a support as well as a protection against accidental breakage. Mulch the… [cont.]

My mail person took an unstamped envelope containing a check from my locked mailbox. How do I get it back?
Q. My friend left the envelope for me in my mailbox so it was not sent through the US postal service. The envelope does not contain my address, only my name. Does the mail person have a right to confiscate mail that is unstamped and left in a mailbox?
Asked by Andrea N - Tue Dec 2 19:28:26 2008 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments

A. yes, in fact your friend is not allowed to leave material in your mailbox, that is where it went wrong for you. i'd hurry down to the local post office asap and explain the situation to the postmaster. depending on if you can get to the place where the initial sorting happens, maybe the letter can be found and returned. edit - your best bet may be to contact your friend, have him/her contact their bank to cancel that check, and to bring you a new one (slipped under the door!)

How do you keep vandels from hitting your mailbox?
Q. We live in the suburbs and some vandels have hit our mailbox at least four times since we've moved here. We've only lived here 2 years! We put up a new box and even stuck a pole in front of the mailbox but it still has been getting hit. Any suggestions? We don't know who's doing it or we'd turn them in and have them pay for damages.

A. Build a mailbox stand out of brick! The stand will contain the mailbox and keep the vandals from doing the damage.

What do I do if something is stolen from my college dorm mailbox?
Q. Recently my friend sent me two flash drives in the mail. When I went to pick up my mail from my small mailbox at the common area near my dorm, I found the envelope ripped open and the flash drives taken. There isn't anyway someone could've have reached in and ripped it open, so I suspect it was an employee of the commons. I already told them about it, but they did nothing. What action do I take from here?
