How long does it take for a Chicken to hatch?
Q. I am hatching some Seabrights. They are very small chickens. Will they hatch earlier than 21 days because they are a smaller breed. I know that with call ducks they hatch 2-3 days earlier than regular ducks because they are smaller. I cant find this information anywhere. Please answer me. Do smaller chickens hatch earlier than larger ones? Mine are due on April 5th. I am also hatching Silver Searbrights, Delwares, Key West Chickens, and Aracunas (I dont know if this is the right spelling). Thanks for you answer Tris. Well today is day 19 and one of the seabrights is hatching. There is a little peep hole and you can hear the chick peeping. Yay. I cant wait for them to hatch. Another seabright is pipping a hole. So now there is 2 chicks… [cont.]

A. Your right about there not being enough info on this! i even looked for you but found nothing! but just out of "eggspiriance" I can tell you that they probably will hatch the same as the other chickens! bantams are super small and they hatch in 21 days! but watch out just in case they do hatch early! (if they do it won't be nothing but 1 or 2 days!) i'm having two chickens sit on eggs (a buff orpington and a australorp) and they are do on Easter! i didn't know that they would fall on Easter until later! perfect timing! The best of luck with your little seabrights! they will be darling! Keep in touch! Tris

How to hatch microworm for my betta fry?
Q. Im about 2 breed my bettas, i have my female and male, they have seen each other in a tank with a devider and my male is in a 5 gallon tank making a bubble nest. i heard that you need to feed betta fry microworms after the first 3 days (when they are free swimers) and it takes 3-7 days. how do i hatch microworms and were do i get the eggs?
Asked by Charlotte - Sun Dec 30 14:56:43 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You get the microworms as a culture (already alive) and you just need to transfer the worms into new culture material periodically. They'll reproduce on their own. Here's a website that has directions, as well as a place to order the starter culture: Microworms aren't the only food you can use either. You can start an infusoria culture with material from the "gunk" in the bottom of a fish tank, or culture vinegar eels (another one started from a live culture). Plus, at about 5 days after hatching, you should start to feed the fry baby brine shrimp. You'll be able to get a kit to produce these from a good pet store. The baby brine shrimp are generally too large for the fry to eat right away. Addition: You can also find starter… [cont.]

Is it normal for ducks to hatch with some of its yolk still attached?
Q. I have had 4 ducks hatch with the yolk sac still attached to their bellies? At first I thought I had the humidity too high, but the last egg I hatched did not have near the humidity in the incubator and it still hatched attached. All have lived, but is this normal for them to hatch with the yolk attached?
Asked by Debra L - Wed Nov 14 00:22:32 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. This is not normal. The yoke has essential nutrients for the duckling. The yoke should be drawn into the body before hatching. I agree with the first answer that the temp might have been to high, this can cause eggs to hatch to early most ducks should hatch at 28 days. temp should be 99.5 degrees. humidity 60%. Good Luck with your Ducks!

How long does it take for baby turtles to hatch?
Q. A turtle just laid its eggs in our backyard (we live right on a pond), and my family and I were wondering how long they'll take to hatch and what the chances are of us actually catching it. Do they usually hatch at night? During the day? Is there any way for us to know when we should start looking for them?
Asked by marilyn - Sun Jun 15 17:43:29 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Incubation takes about two months. The length of incubation and the gender of the hatchling depends on the temperature of the sand. Darker sands maintain higher temperatures, decreasing incubation time and increasing the frequency of female hatchlings. When the eggs hatch (usually daytime), the babies dig their way out of the sand and head for the water.

What's the best weatherstripping for my leaky door and attic hatch?
Q. My door leaks at the top-left corner. I tried adding some P-weatherstrip, but I think it was too narrow, there is still a draft. A link to the product you suggest would be helpful. Also, what's the best weatherstripping for my drywall attic hatch? I tried a plastic tube gasket weather strip but there is still a bit of a draft. Should I install another piece of gasket on top of the strip I already put down? My attic hatch has a texture on it to match my ceiling which creates grooves for air to come in.

A. Anything by the Frost King brand is a heavy quality, durable weatherstripping. Just look for the ones marked "all seasons". You can usually find them in Home Depot, where it's called "weatherseal."

The immature larvae are black, yellow, and white with spikes which resemble a bird droppings as a camouflage. It will continue growing to be a mature larvae at about 10-15 mm in length. The mature larvae are green with white or pink markings and eyespots which can grow up to 45 mm to become a caterpillar.

Asked by seee - Tue May 22 11:42:32 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Fertile eggs will begin to hatch about 18 days from the date the female BEGINS incubating the eggs, which usually occurs with the second egg laid. Incubation is when the female sits on the eggs most of 24/7 (she'll come out of the nesting box to defecate, drink, and maybe eat, although the male feeds the female most of the time while she incubates the eggs/cares for the babies).

how do i hatch a cockatiel egg and care for it?
Q. a friend has birds that laid an egg. the male pecks the eggs, so another friend took the egg, since she has a cockatiel. she wants to hatch the baby and hand feed it. how is this done?
Asked by waynesworld111 - Mon Jan 2 02:44:16 2006 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. This is a very, very difficult process and in all likelihood, the baby will not survive regardless of how well your friend cares for the egg. Baby birds are exceedingly fragile and can die in the shell from such small shocks that it's probably already gone. She needs to candle the egg - shine a penlight through it - to check the status of the egg and see if the chick is still, by some miracle, alive. Pecked or not, if the egg has been moved too quickly, bumped, or allowed to cool too much, the chick will die. Human body temperature is not warm enough to incubate a baby chick. If the chick's life is the main concern, your best bet is to give the egg to a hen that's already sitting on a clutch. If your friend tries to hatch it herself,… [cont.]

How long for a wolf spider egg to hatch?
Q. I have pet wolf spider. I had her for about... 2 months now. She had her egg, and I was wondering how long it takes for them to hatch? She had it sometime last week, between the 9-14 of November. Im planning on letting her go once they hatch, like I did with my black widow.
Asked by Maranda - Sun Nov 16 19:04:26 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. wolf spiders are predominantly outdoor spiders.normally the female will lay her last egg sac of the season, before 'wintering over'. the eggs will slowly mateur through the winter, and the spiderlings emerge in the early spring.they will ride on the mothers back, until they can hunt on there own. In captivity, this would be subject to the environment. with controlled tempratures, they could hatch in as little as two weeks. this last season, a wolf spider behind my computer, had several eggs hatch, only to have a large number of spiderlings crawling on the keyboard, and dangling in front of the monitor. best thing to do is simulate a 'winter' for them, and let them go next spring. if they hatch out of season, there may be little food for them, and… [cont.]

How do I cut a hole in my drywall ceiling to install a plastic access hatch?
Q. Basically, we need to install a plastic hatch so that repairmen can access the main A/C unit for our central air system. (This is an apartment building/condominium built by the world's most crooked developer and the A/C units are so badly installed that it's hard to even get repair guys to come to our building.) The plastic hatch is 14x14 inches, and is the kind that "pops" in. We know exactly where it needs to go, but the job is too small for a handyman to bother with and our super is too busy to help. What's the best tool for the job, and what should I look out for (in terms of accidentally cutting into, say, a water pipe or dangerous electrical conduit)? I feel like this is kind of a stupid question, but I don't have anybody else… [cont.]
