How long does it take lizard eggs to hatch?
Q. My boyfriend has a pet Blue Belly Lizard (Western Fence Lizard). The lizard just laid eggs and we were trying to find out how long it will take before the eggs hatch.
Asked by sadgirl - Sun Apr 20 20:48:12 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. If you take proper care of them and they are fertile eggs it should take any where from 1-2months (a scale of multiple egg laying reptile averages)

Can cockroach eggs hatch without the mother taking care of them?
Q. Chicken eggs need the mother to keep the eggs warm in order for them to be able to hatch. What about cockroach eggs? Can they hatch without the mother keeping the eggs warm? I found a few cockroaches in my home and I'm concern they (if they were females) might have left some eggs behind.
Asked by Dee Dee - Mon Jun 2 01:29:05 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Not only cockroaches but all insect and reptile eggs do not need the mother to warm them .They can hatch being warmed by ambient temperature. This is why insects lay far more many eggs than birds, hopefully that some of them can hatch. The only mother care is protection from predators.

My Cockatiels mostly eat seeds. When their 5 eggs hatch will that be okay for the babies? Can I touch the eggs?
Q. My female didn't lay her eggs in the nesting box, she did so on the bottom of the cage. Both mom and dad are attending to the eggs. When I got the birds a year ago (already a year old) they were only eating seeds. I got them to eat now a little dandelions leaves and spinach leaves and sometimes a little bran cereal. Will this be suffitiant for the baby birds. Also can I touch the eggs? Will the birds still sit on them If I touch them. And when the eggs hatch will I be able to handle them.

A. When the babies are 1st.born,the parents will feed them- I gave mine lots of lettuce, sliced apple, fresh seed and water daily, plus they need alot of cuttle bone-I never touched the eggs, so I'm not sure on that-I didn't even try to handle them till a week and 1/2 later, BUT they are alot of work , every 2 hr's around the clock, and you have to go to the pet store and get baby bird food, and the directions are on the can-Good luck, I have 4 , doing very well-

How long does it take for crab eggs to hatch?
Q. My uncle has a box of bait crabs and there are two crabs that are pregnant, and i was wondering how long it will be before the eggs hatch.
Asked by xjustxsmilex - Sat Jul 11 22:06:07 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Climate change may affect crab hatching Hatching was significantly delayed at colder temperatures with about a 46-day difference from 2.3 C to 6.1 C. Length of development was related to temperature via a power function, and ranged from 410 8 days at 6.1 C to 434 11 days at 2.3 C. Length of hatching increased from 40 4.6 days at 2.3 C to 55 6.2 days at 6.1 C. A model for predicting hatching dates from an eye index was developed using a quadratic equation. Embryo development at 4.3 and 6.1 C was arrested between weeks 35 and 50; this evidence, plus other behavioral observations, suggests that crabs may be able to adjust development rates to partially compensate for temperature changes

Angel Fish-What should I do if my angel fish eggs do hatch?
Q. Today I discovered eggs and one of the angel fish happen to be guarding them. My tank has different fish (3 guppies, a bala shark, neon tetras, 2 goldfish, and a bit more) plus 3 angel fish. The guarding angel fish is doing okay and the angel fish never fight any fish in the tank. Anyways the question is what do I do if the eggs hatch? They are mostly unfertilized eggs, but I pobably can't see some of the fertilized eggs. I do see some though, what do I do? The eggs are already in the tank full of fish.

A. as soon as they hatch watch and wait and watch your angels they will defend the eggs but watch for aggression I have two and they can get very nippy around breeding time.I recommend you read this it can be very helpful again watch the aggression and I hope everything goes well and if it does and you find yourself in a bind with lots and lots, your local pet store (mostly privately owned) may take the little ones off of your hands

Will brine shrimp eggs hatch in my freshwater aquarium?
Q. i have one pack of shrimp eggs and i don't know what to do with them. i was thinking of just emptying the contents in my aquarium but i want them to hatch and do not want to buy the shrimpery container.
Asked by greenmiamicat - Fri Oct 19 16:40:48 2007 - - 10 Answers - 0 Comments
A. They need to have saltwater for the best hatch rate. There's probably salt in the container if you bought the small bags. If you bought the tubes, there won't be. You don't need a "hatchery" to raise them. The first time I hatched them, I used a plastic bowl (like the golfish bowls) that was over a liter in size, and used an airpump with an airstone. They hatched, and I raised them to adults. You could also use an clean soda bottle or large clear vase. If you don't have the type with added salt, add a Tablespoon of non-iodized salt to 2 cups of conditioned water (chlorine and chloramine can kill the baby shrimp). Sea salt is preferred, but I have hatched them using just rock salt.

How long does it take until a mother goose's eggs hatch?
Q. Down at our pond we have two geese, obviously a mother and a father, and they have made a nest consisting three eggs, its been about 2 or more weeks since the eggs were laid, and i want to know how much longer until they hatch or if they could be dead?
Asked by destiny vsyou - Sat May 24 15:10:16 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. A goose's eggs will hatch in 30 to 35 days. I assume that you are talking about a pair of Canadian Geese? If they only have three eggs this is their first or second year of trying to raise babies. They usually don't start trying to lay and raise babies until they are four or five years old. Then by about the third season they have it figured out and start laying more eggs. I have had hens lay as many as 19 eggs in one nest. That was a pair of birds that we knew for sure were at least 13 years old because that was how long we owned them. If you decide to keep the babies and you pen them up you would need a federal permit to contain them. The interesting thing about Canadian Geese is that they will return to the place they were hatched… [cont.]

How do i make sure my chickens eggs hatch?
Q. I've quite recently bought 3 hens and a cockerel. The hens are young around a few months old i think according to the farmer. The eggs that they have laid are small but we've kept them and the hens are still laying. How long will it take for the eggs to hatch and the hens to start sitting on them? will they sit on them at all? and will i need an incubator or should leaving the hens to their natural things be better? also i was wondering how to make the hens's eggs bigger than the size they are now? i feed them pellets and rice and have looked up the type apparently they are shaver reds, dunno if this helps? thanks
Asked by ac125 - Sun Apr 27 13:14:53 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The small eggs you are getting now are known as pullet eggs. It shouldn't be long before your girls fully mature and start laying full size eggs. Most commercial laying breeds have had most of their broodiness bred out of them. This means they are not good at sitting on the eggs and an incubator would be recommended for hatching. The shaver reds are a red sex link breed. This means they are a cross bred chicken developed for egg production. Because they are crossbred the chicks that hatch from their eggs might not be similar to the parents.

Q. My female Shubunkin laid a whole heap of eggs this morning in a bunch of Elodea(fishtank plant) and I'm just wondering if anyone knows how long they will take to hatch or even if they've been fertilised by my male fantail(who has been chasing the shubunkin around and has white spots on his gill plates)?

A. it depends on temperature. In the tem between 20-22 degree Celceus it will hatch after 24 hours. In cold season they might take a week also. But only thoese eggs are going to hatch wich are fertile. You can see some eggs are white and some are cristal clear. Only thoese clear eggs are going to hatch. And white cotton like eggs are not going to hatch.

A. nice question,,1st thing to do is to do nothing.just let the parent birds do the work, they know whats best for the chicks. just give them plenty of good food and regular water change daily. for added nutrition for the chicks, give the parents dry hand feeding formulas that you can buy at your local pet shop.do not mix them with water, let the parents do the feeding. hand rearing should only be done if and only if the parents cannot take care for them..enjoy your tiels!!!

Will budgie eggs hatch without an incubator?
Q. I'm just about to start breeding my budgies and I would like to know if i would be needing a incubator? Don't budgies sit on the eggs till they hatch? A. well i'd only use an incubator if there is only one parent or none at all. budgie parents usually incubate their eggs but if you only have one they might starve them selves to death. the mothers are usually incubating while th father feeds her (at times it looks like they kiss but their actually feeding each other). and this way the parents could feed them once they hatched. if the parents are feeding make sure that the babies chest are round meaning that the parents are feeding and not neglectinting their children. you should also make sure the parents eat as well. you need to be present most of the time to take care of them. and you need to be there all the time when you're using the incubator and if they've hatched. if you have any more… [cont.]

How to take care a Dove eggs until they hatch?
Q. My Dove bird is white with red eyes and does not have a mate. She/him has hatched two eggs. What can I do to help the eggs be safe? What is the proper care once the eggs hatched. My Dove is in a large cage but no nest to cover the two eggs. I need advice immediately. It has been about seven days the eggs have been in the cage. I see my bird trying to sit on them and she caters to one more than the other.

A. If your dove has no mate then the eggs are not fertile, it takes a male and female bird to produce baby birds, basic biology. Any eggs she lays/sits on will never hatch out.

How long does it take for duck eggs to hatch... Does the mother duck have to sit on the eggs continously....?
Q. Do all the eggs hatch at the same time.?? Our mother duck is sitting behind our climatis vine.

A. Most ducks take 28 days to hatch from the time the momma starts sitting on them.(Muscovy's take 35 days)Sometimes they can take up to three days for all the eggs to hatch once they start .She will sit all but a few minutes out of the day during which time she will eat and drink.Make sure her food and water are close enough for her to get to it without having to go far as she will not like to get very far away. Also this nesting time is when they are really a likely meal for a predator.Make sure she is protected if you can.

A. It takes 28 days. ( except muscovies ). If it has been more than that and they haven't pipped I am guessing either they weren't fertile or they didn't have the right temperature during incubation or the right humidity or you didn't turn them.

What should I do if/when my chicken eggs hatch?
Q. I have a hen sitting on 11 eggs and 1 is bound to hatch. Whe it does, should I take it away from its mom and put it in a box with everything it needs and put the box in my house, or should I just leave it with its mom with food and water? Thanks.
Asked by Jacob W - Thu Jan 29 17:30:00 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Definately leave it with its mum. That way it can dry out and fluff up properly and keep warm. In the first day the chicks won't be hungry, If you think they need food or water just put it in front of the mother hen and put the chicks out there with it. The hen will make her feeding noise so the chicks know what to eat, she will also break the food up into smaller pieces so they can eat it. When its time for the eggs to hatch (3 weeks of incubation) put them up to your ear and listen, usually you can hear the chick scratching around inside. This will help you work out how many chicks are going to hatch. Good luck!! If you have any other chicken questions feel free to email me, I have heaps!! :)

Q. I have a hen sitting on 11 eggs and 1 is bound to hatch. Whe it does, should I take it away from its mom and put it in a box with everything it needs and put the box in my house, or should I just leave it with its mom with food and water? Thanks.

A. Definately leave it with its mum. That way it can dry out and fluff up properly and keep warm. In the first day the chicks won't be hungry, If you think they need food or water just put it in front of the mother hen and put the chicks out there with it. The hen will make her feeding noise so the chicks know what to eat, she will also break the food up into smaller pieces so they can eat it. can you hatch eggs hatch other than in the spring?
Q. i got chickens and i want to hatch out eggs as soon as possible when they start laying. Will they only sit on there eggs and hatch out chicks in the spring or will they do it year round.

A. All hens are different. Most hens will set durring the warmer days. Not usually past automn. As long as there at least 5 + months they should go setting. If you want you can get an incubator to hatch any time you want to. Its worth the $ and to watch them first crack that shell. If you need any help or anyhting ask me bethbethani@yahoo.com

A. Usually one will hatch then the other a few days later. I would give a few more days but if the bird is still laying on egg dont take it away wait and see what happens.

Do pokemon eggs hatch if they are in the storage boxes?
Q. I am planning on breeding some cranidos then trade some but i want to know if eggs can hatch while in the storage boxes plz help

A. Pokemon eggs can only hatch if they are in your party. Pokemon eggs hatch on the number of steps which also depend on the Pokemon the egg contains. Advice is that if you have a Pokemon that has the ability Magma Armor ( Like Magcargo or Slugma), the Pokemon Eggs hatch faster.
