How are Small Business Development Centers different from Business Incubators?
Q. Been studying up on the two and find that many authors seem to be using the terms interchangeably.

A. Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) are usually affiliated with the local community college, and offer classes in starting and running your business. One VERY good class some of them offer is the NxLevel Entrepreneurial Training, a 12 session course that walks you through the ins and outs of starting or growing your business, and as part of that you will write a business plan. At the end of the class your plan will be reviewed by a lending professional, and will be critiqued, telling you the strong points of your plan AND the weak points. SBDCs are tax supported and accept all applicants. From Wikipedia: Business incubators are programs designed to accelerate the successful development of entrepreneurial companies through an… [cont.]

Do federal mandates run counter to the idea that states are important incubators of public policy?
Q. Do you think it makes sense? Why or why not? Thanks! =]
Asked by babbygurll - Tue Sep 8 12:53:04 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Of course they are. Indeed, the liberal mind despises the split authority nature of the US government. What conservatives refer to as the core genius of federalism (the ability of the states to act like 50 individual policy laboratories to arrive at the best policies), is derided by the left as a 'race to the bottom', because they know that if forced to compete, their preferred policies will lose in a market-like competition. They cannot fathom that this means their policy preferences are flawed, and so instead they defend their egos by claiming that the system is broken and that policies must be implemented uniformly from the top down rather than the bottom up.

why do some birds that are hatched in incubators lose the instinct to set on thier eggs learned on inctinct?
Q. the birds i have had this experience with are quail & chickens. the lose of this behavior is sometimes in the 1 st generation & almost always by the second generation. is there a way to reverse this
Asked by cinderfellow1011 - Sun Jul 20 23:25:59 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Birds in nature dont hatch their eggs if they don't set them properly, but incubators allow live chicks from hens who would not reproduce in nature. You cant afford to reverse lazy behavior, because the only way to breed for good nesting practices would be to allow the eggs of the careless hens to die.

what are some good incubators for budgie eggs if you don't want to go out and buy one?
Q. like homemade ones... we were thinking our old oven on the lowest setting with the door open, wrapped in a towel or would that somehow inadverently cook it...? well it's pretty humid where i live... and the parents keep eating the eggs...and they don't sell incubators where i live either unless i want to ship one from europe of america or something, which i don't...
Asked by poo. - Fri May 9 16:00:48 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It would probably be too hot, and it would definitely be too dry. Homemade incubators are hard to build properly, especially for small eggs like Budgies. If you're serious about hatching the eggs and for some reason the parents can't sit on them themselves, you'd need to just suck it up and buy an incubator.

A. parrot breeders look for a 'small' incubator (few breeders need to incubate more than two dozen eggs at a time) which offers the quality, reliability, flexibility and control to give their prized eggs the best possible chance of hatching. Until recently, there was a gap in the market for such an incubator which is why Brinsea have developed the Octagon Pro-20. Based on the highly successful Octagon 20 MkIII (which has been used with success by many parrot breeders), the Pro-20 also include Brinsea's latest H22 Humidity Management Module, calibrated digital thermometer (each supplied with its own certificate of accuracy), novel foam isolation pads to protect developing embryos from any unwanted effects of vibration, a 15-page comprehensive… [cont.]

A. Murray Mcmurray hatcherys has a few different styles of incubator, but for your son, I would suggest the mini-dome incubator, it isn't the greatest at viability, but it is simple to use, has a fair hatch rate and has a full view plastic hood, so he can see the magic of hatching time! go to You can buy the 3 egg automatic if you have the budget, it is more complicated and would require your help, but it supposedly is easier to "use" since you just turn it on and leave it alone, but the mini dome requires you to turn the eggs yourself.

Q. I want too start on a egg incubator project, and don't know where to start. I want to know the plans and the tools and supplies needed or recommended websites on building egg incubators. I want a simple and cheap incubator. i would buy one, but this way is more rewarding. is installing a hot water thermostat a must for a homemade egg incubator or is it a option. how do you install a thermostat anyways? PS I'm planning on hatching ducks once this is built.
