Entertainment is an activity designed to give people a diversion. It is usually conducted in one's free time. An audience may participate in the entertainment passively as in watching opera or a movie, or actively as in games. The playing of sports and reading of literature could be considered a form of entertainment, but these are more often called recreation, because they involve some active participation. The industry that provides entertainment is called the entertainment industry. I'm afraid I don't know about the cost of radio and film, but in the 20s most people went to the cinema at least once a week, so I would guess that it probably wasn't that expensive. They generally had different priced seats in different parts of the movie theatre, you would pay less if you sat close to the front for instance. People would go out dancing, at dance halls and clubs, jazz music was very popular in the 20s, and the dances that were popular included the Charleston, the foxtrot and the Black Bottom.
